Atty. Sedfrey Lopez Cabaluna is a Filipino lawyer, educator, and public servant currently serving as a City Councilor of Iloilo City, the capital of Iloilo Province in the Western Visayas Region, Philippines
Early Life and Education
Born and raised in Iloilo City, Atty. Cabaluna pursued higher education at the University of San Agustin, where he obtained a degree in AB Political Science. He later continued his studies at the same institution, earning his law degree and passing the bar to become a full-fledged lawyer.
Legal and Academic Career
Before entering public service, Atty. Cabaluna built a distinguished career in law and education. He is an Associate Lawyer at Lauron Delos Reyes and Partners Law Firm, where he provides legal counsel and representation. His passion for education led him to serve as a lecturer at the University of San Agustin – College of Law and the University of the Philippines Visayas, specializing in Communication Laws and Ethics, News Media, and Organizational Communication.
Public Service and Political Career
Atty. Cabaluna’s commitment to public service extends beyond the legal and academic fields. He served as a Tourism Officer for the Department of Tourism – Region 6, promoting the region’s tourism industry. Prior to that, he worked as Public Information Officer II under the Promotion, Linkages, and Development Division of the Commission on Human Rights in Region VI, advocating for human rights awareness and protection.
In 2022, Atty. Cabaluna was elected as a City Councilor of Iloilo City. In this role, he actively works on legislation and policies that benefit the city and its people, focusing on governance, tourism, media, and public affairs.
Media and Communication Background
Atty. Cabaluna also has a strong background in media and communication. Before entering government service, he was a regional host and radio announcer for the ABS-CBN Regional Network Group, where he played a key role in delivering news and information to the public.
