We had the privilege of delivering the Keynote Speech at the Climate Forum on the El Niño Phenomenon, held at the University of San Agustin and organized by the University’s Sustainability and Resilience Management Office, in collaboration with the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) and the Office of Civil Defense Region VI.
The forum brought together students, youth leaders, volunteers, environmental advocates, and disaster risk reduction advocates for a timely conversation on climate change, El Niño, extreme heat, and building resilient communities.
In our message, we emphasized the need to have the courage to change our own habits, make responsible choices, and demand accountability from ourselves and from others.
We also reflected on the importance of collaboration. Meaningful change can begin with the choices we make at home, but lasting impact comes when individuals, communities, institutions, and government choose to work together.
We were honored to share the program with Rev. Fr. Arnel Dizon, OSA, University President; Rev. Fr. Atimark P. Asor, OSA, Vice President for Administration and Finance of the University of San Agustin; and Dir. Raul E. Fernandez, Regional Director of the Office of Civil Defense Region VI.
